Crypton DTV Server Remultiplexer COD980RMS with QPSK modulator
Description:DTV Server Remultiplexer COD980RMS is a remultiplexer equipped with the functions of DVB scrambler and subscriber service server of conditional access system "Crypton". Input transport stream ASI interface and built-in L-band QPSK modulator, which is by aid of frequency converter could be transferred to a desired UHF-band (for instance to Ku-band for satellite broadcasting systems and MITRIS) or by aid of QPSK/QAM transmodulator to RF-band for MMDS networks and head-ends, enable to arrange broadcasting of digital TV-programs with maximum quality and minimum capital investment.
8 ASI inputs are available in COD980RMS. Transport streams of digital TV-programs selected for being multiplexed are fed on each of 8 ASI inputs. Transport streams can be scrambled in arbitrary order by the dynamically changing keys, which are unique for each program. Subscribers Message System allows having up to 16 million subscribers.
The control computer performs all the tasks of device management and its condition monitoring by aid of "Crypton DTV Master" software through TCP/IP communication.
COD980RMS is mainly applied in head-end stations of digital cable, MITRIS, MMDS- and LMDS-networks.
Scope:
- 8 ASI inputs are used.
Digital TV-programs, selected for being remultiplexed come at the input of the multiplexer in order to be integrated into one multiprogrammed transport stream. Professional satellite receivers with transport stream output in ASI format (according to EN 50083-9) are usually appear as the signal source.
- Input stream aggregate estimation.
There is a possibility to estimate the maximum transport stream rate for each channel.
COD980RMS could also estimate the maximum aggregate rate of TV-program streams, fed to the remultiplexer. In case of the redundant rate of input data, COD980RMS concurrently and automatically reduces some programs’ bit rate, according to the set priorities. Flexible setup allows using frequency resource more effectively.
The utmost priority may be assigned to the channels with high dynamics of image and rating that in turn would provide their passing through the channel with maximum quality. At the same time TV-programs with less dynamics of image or rating may be passed with a reduced bit rate but without the virtual loss in quality, providing channels operating performance on the whole.
- Service information edit and program clock reference correction.
COD980RMS is equipped with the function of service information edit and program clock reference correction. Thus a new multiprogrammed transport stream's generation is provided. Moreover it brings additional networking functions that are very useful for ultimate customer.
- Open channel for subscribers’ data transfer
It is possible to arrange an open channel of data transfer from the service provider server to the DVB-compatible subscriber terminal via active TCP/IP communication.
Electronic Programme Guide, news, weather forecast, Internet and etc., may be transmitted by means of open channel.
- Conditional Access System.
If the content needs to be protected, COD980RMS provides independent scrambling of TV-channels in accordance with DVB-CAS specification. COD980RMS effectively controls subscribers of pay-TV network.
Subscribers’ management is done via port of control with PC.
- QPSK modulator.
Device is equipped with built-in QPSK modulator with carrier frequency that can be set in the range of 950-1750 MHz.
- Control.
Control of network devices is done on PC via TCP/IP communication.
- Reliable software.
"Crypton DTV Master" software package fulfills the control and monitoring tasks of the network devices status condition.
Design:
The COD980RMS – is in Multipac design with built-in power supply. Easily assembled into 19" rack. Dimensions: height – 2U (89mm), depth – 295 mm, width – 483 mm.

Functional block diagram COD980RMS:
Block diagram concise description:
- ASI interface.
COD980RMS employs a DVB ASI interface according to EN 50083-9 as input and output interface of digital stream transmission.
- Remultiplexer.
8 (by one program from each channel) independent digital TV-programs could be fed to the inputs of the multiplexer. Subscribers’ data, coming into device via open channel and the corresponding TCP/IP communication from the subscribers’ data server could be additionally fed to the multiplexer.
The mechanism that provides program clock reference correction and service information edit is envisaged in COD980RMS in accordance with EN 300468.
- DVB Scrambler.
The scrambler used in COD980RMS is a DVB-compatible and corresponds to DVB-CAS ETR-289 specification. The scrambler performs a selective scrambling of digital TV-programs.
The main purpose of scrambling is to exclude unauthorized viewing of the TV-programs.
- Service information generator.
The Crypton Service Information Generator performs control messages insertion, required for switching on/switching off any subscriber of pay-TV network.
- Control module.
The Control Module is used for performing: subscriber management, device diagnostics, control and setup; communication with control computer via active TCP/IP.
- QPSK modulator.
Device is equipped with built-in QPSK modulator with carrier frequency that can be set in the range of 950 -1750 MHz.
These set-top boxes received Ukrainian certificate of conformance.
